Students met twice a week this term for Physical Education class. Students worked on improving cardiovascular and muscular fitness by running laps and doing push-ups and sit-ups each class period. Soccer was the first unit of the term. Students worked on improving their dribbling, shooting, passing, and defensive skills through games and drills. Students also participated in a one-mile run, sit-up, and flexibility test this past term. After the soccer unit, students learned/reviewed flag football rules and skills (throwing, catching, running with the ball, punting). In addition to learning sports skills, students focused on working with classmates of diverse athletic experiences. Throughout games good sportsmanship was always stressed. The first unit of term two is team handball. Students will not receive a term grade; instead they will receive a semester grade for Physical Education.
