NEW FOR 2008!
This summer, create a video project that reflects your individuality and creativity. Learn about filming techniques and video editing technology by working with cameras and computers hands-on. You will select music that inspires you and then design, write, direct, and produce music videos for your songs. As a part of the studio, you will examine the relationship between sounds and images, working to pair your musical selections with fitting visual imagery. You will explore the possibilities of music videos as works of art that can tell a story, send a message, or simply enhance a song. You will also learn several different camera and editing techniques to make your videos look polished and professional. You will leave the studio feeling comfortable with a video camera and Windows Movie Maker, and you will have created at least one complete music video. Come let your creativity sing!

Immerse yourself in the aquatic environments of Plymouth this summer. Within our town we have a diversity of vernal pools, warm water ponds, stratified lakes, rock tumbling creeks, tidal rivers, and the oceanic environments of sheltered harbors and exposed beach. Dr. Pete will compare and contrast the science of these special worlds, including, but not limited to their biology, their chemical differences, their geologic evolution, and their physical structure. Students will learn primarily in a field environment, collecting/exploring living and non-living components of each ecosystem. Various samples will be brought back to Rising Tide for microscopic and/or laboratory analysis. Students will be mentally and physically engaged and should expect to get wet and muddy.
