DISCOVER PERIOD
In the 7th period of the daily schedule, students participate in Academic Support, Enrichment Activities, and Community Building Events.
Twice a week students will participate in Academic Support. During this time, teachers will have an opportunity to work with individual students, or groups of students, for extra help. This is also an opportunity for teachers to hold students accountable for taking responsibility to complete homework assignments.
Twice a week students also participate in Enrichment Activities. These activities may include sports such as soccer, arts such as drama, or clubs such as student newspaper. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to discover activities and learn new skills in a way that may be different from the rest of the school day.
Finally, every full Wednesday students participate in Community Building Events or interdisciplinary projects with students in their grade level.
The Discover Period activities rotate each quarter, and students are encouraged to try different activities. During the first quarter of the school year, the Rising Tide Exposition will replace Enrichment Activities in the schedule.
