Teachers of English, Math, Science, Social Studies, Latin and Special Education are encouraged to apply. Applicants must have a strong academic background (a degree with a concentration in the subject area) as well as an interest in taking an inquiry-based approach to teaching skills and content
School Profile:
The Rising Tide Charter Public School (Rising Tide) is a Massachusetts charter public school that serves approximately 300 students in grades 5-8 from the town of Plymouth and surrounding areas. It is a free public school that provides an academically challenging environment and high standards of academic excellence in a safe, small, and rewarding setting. Our caring and dedicated faculty shape a curriculum aligned with the Massachusetts State Frameworks, and also develop multi-disciplinary projects. Teachers are encouraged to utilize an inquiry-based approach for building skills within the classroom. At Rising Tide, full-time teachers are a part of grade-level and curricular teams, are advisors for students, and are given opportunities for leadership within the school.
Rising Tide Goals:
•To foster in each student a love of learning and high achievement through encouragement to continuously improve in the acquisition of basic skills through work on integrated projects that reflect life’s real challenges.
•To create a safe, supportive environment where each person treats others with respect and where a student can try new things and take risks without fearing teasing or failure.
•To encourage each student to grow and take increasing responsibility, both academically and socially.
•To create and develop in each student an awareness of the diversity both within and outside of the Rising Tide community and encourage tolerance, acceptance, and celebration of differences.
•To create a close community of students, teachers, parents and community members who work together to encourage students to develop into successful students, and later, into successful members of their local communities.
Responsibilities Include:
Designing and implementing curriculum, assessing student progress, and working together with grade-level and curricular teams in teaching and learning to build a supportive school environment.
Qualifications:
Applicants must be “highly qualified” as defined by the No Child Left Behind Act, and take and pass the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL) in the subject area and literacy within the first year of employment.
