Latin is a part of the academic schedule for students in all four grades at Rising Tide. 5th and 6th graders take the course two times a week and focus on understanding the basics of the culture and language. Students take on a Latin name and are given a feel of everyday life. 7th and 8th graders take Latin four times a week, studying the language and culture in a more complex way. Students use the Cambridge Latin Course series, which allows students to investigate elements of the language through translating related, fictional stories based on real people from ancient times. 8th grade students all participate in the National Latin Exam. Students who complete the Latin program have covered a traditional high school Latin I program.
