All sixth graders at Rising Tide participate in a biweekly course called "Classical World." In this course, they learn about the mythology, culture and history of Ancient Greece and Rome. Students take on a Latin name and are given a feel for everyday life. All seventh and eighth graders take Latin as a core subject four times a week, studying the language and culture in a more complex way. Students use the Cambridge Latin Course series, which allows students to investigate elements of the language through translating related, fictional stories based on real people from ancient times. Eighth grade students all participate in the National Latin Exam. The Latin department also sponsored a trip to Italy, which is available to eighth graders, over February vacation. Students who complete the Latin program have covered a traditional high school Latin I program and are prepared to excel in Latin 2 in high school.

The high school also offers a Latin course as a foreign language option. The course is based upon the Latin for Americans text. The students continue to learn the Latin language and culture and delve into authentic Latin texts, exploring the art of the language as well as the grammar.
