ANNOUNCEMENTS

Donuts for Dads: Tomorrow, Rising Tide will host its annual Donuts for Dads event from 7:30 - 8:45 am. Like Muffins for Moms, this is a great opportunity for dads to spend first period in the classroom, learning along with their children while sampling some coffee and donuts.

SEPAC: Rising Tide's Parent Advisory Council - Our PAC members have developed an online survey for parents! To learn more about our parent advisory council and provide the school with feedback about our services and special education programs, we are asking parents to check out our information on our school website. The Parent Advisory Council is listed on our homepage, which has a link to the survey. We would greatly appreciate your participation - thank you!!!

Progress Reports were mailed out at last week. Parents are expected to review and sign them, then have your child turn them in to his or her advisor. As a reminder, not all students receive progress reports.

This Thursday, March 11th, Rising Tide will hold our annual Enrollment Lottery. The deadline for submission of enrollment applications, which can be downloaded from our website, is 4 pm on March 10th.

Daylight savings is this weekend. Remember to ?spring forward? by turning all your clocks ahead one hour this Sunday, March 14th!

Prefix of the Week: Anti- The word for grades 5/6 is antisocial and for grades 7/8, antipathy. We encourage parents to discuss the prefix of the week with their children throughout the year.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Basketball: This week, girls practice on Thursday from 3:15-5; boys practice on Tuesday and Wednesday from 3:15-4:45 pm. This weekend is the Charter Cup Tournament in Lawrence.

This Wednesday, March 10th, Rising Tide 8th graders will take the National Latin Exam during 7th period. We wish them luck!

Games Club will take place this Friday until 4 pm.

Social event: Rising Tide will host a social event this Friday, March 12th, from 7-9 pm. Parents must pick up their children at 9 pm. Tickets cost $5 each and go on sale during lunch this week.

Family Math Night will be held next Thursday, March 18th from 6:28 to 8 pm, here at Rising Tide. All students must be accompanied by parents or guardians. There will be games, prizes and food.

MCAS: MCAS Testing will take place during the week of March 22nd-26th for all students. Next week, we will attach a flyer regarding test-taking tips. Parents, please make a special effort to ensure that your children attend school each day unless gravely ill, and arrive at school on time during the testing period.

RISING TIDE FRIENDS-PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION (RTF-PTA):

THIS FRIDAY~ It's Bag2School time! This Friday, March 12th we are accepting donations for the Bag2school fundraiser. Each family has received a blue bag (attached to the memo) to put your donations of: gently used clothing, shoes, handbags, belts, linens, curtains and stuffed animals. The drop off time for your donation is at 7:00pm at the start of the social, this Friday. Please do not drop items off early at the school, as we are limited to storage space. If this drop off time is not convenient please contact me. You are not limited to only the blue donation bag. The more we collect, the more we earn for the school. Feel free to fill as many of your own bags as you would like. Thank you for your help with this great opportunity to clean out your closets and help the school, all at the same time. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.

PLEASE NOTE: The next RTF-PTA meeting is Wednesday, April 7th, at 7:00pm. We hope to see you there. Topics of discussion are RTF-PTA policies, and descriptions and availability of open board positions for next year.

The RTF-PTA is looking for several wonderful volunteers who would be willing and able to step into a few of our board member positions for next year. If you or someone you know at RTCPS would be interested please contact Megan Dupes at your earliest convenience to learn more about these fun and rewarding positions.

Collections: We would like to kindly remind you that we are continuing to collect: BOX TOPS, CAMPBELL'S SOUP LABELS, INK CARTRIDGES, CELL-PHONES and JUICE POUCHES. Finally, please register your Stop and Shop and Shaw's cards at their websites to participate in their new, STOP AND SHOP HELPS SCHOOLS and SHAW'S REWARDS programs. NURSE'S OFFICE

Scoliosis screening will take place the week of March 8th - 12th. Students may wear sleeveless t-shirts. Female students may also wear sports bras.
