ANNOUNCEMENTS

Tomorrow (Wednesday, June 2nd) is an Early Release Day. Students will be dismissed at noon.

Library overdues
: All books are due back in the Rising Tide Library today. There will be a charge of $5 for any book not returned by this Friday, June 4th. Please help your children look through their bags and rooms for any Rising Tide Library books.

Some Rising Tide faculty are available this summer to offer tutoring services for current students. Interested families should please contact the school.

Summer courses update: We still have a few openings for Water Worlds and Music Video.

Band Director Robert Baker will be offering summer music lessons at Rising Tide, coinciding with our schedule for summer courses. Interested students should check in with Mr. Baker for registration forms.

 
Prefix of the Week: ?Scrip-/Scrib-? The word for grades 5/6 is ?scribble? and for grades 7/8, ?transcribe.? We encourage parents to discuss the prefix of the week with their children.

Earth Awareness Day
Earth Awareness Day is this Friday, June 4th. Please bring lunches in reusable containers. You should bring a reusable lunch not just one day but every day because if you don?t you might as well be living on a landfill. Here are some things to bring and not to bring:

Prepackaged foods such as yogurts, puddings, granola bars, Lunchables, juice boxes

UPCOMING EVENTS

This Thursday, June 3rd, 5th graders will go on a field trip to Wellfleet, returning in time for dismissal.

Rising Tide will hold an enrollment lottery on Thursday, June 3rd for those who missed the March lottery but would still like to be placed on the waiting list for 2010-11 enrollment.

Rising Tide will host a 7th and 8th grade social event this Friday, June 4th from 7-9:30pm. Tickets cost $5, and go on sale during lunch this week. Students may bring one guest from outside, who is a 7th or 8th grader, if they have a signed permission slip (which they can obtain when they purchase tickets). Attire must be either in dress code, or more formal. Also, no limousines are allowed.

As our Student Handbook states on page 12, students who are absent or dismissed early from school may not attend evening events hosted by Rising Tide on that same date.

There will be NO Games Club this Friday, June 4th; we will hold the final Games Club session of the year next Friday, June 11th, until 4 pm.

Soccer Club will be held this Friday until 4:30 pm. Next Friday, June 11th, there will be a special student vs. faculty game after school until 4:30 pm.

Field Day will be held on Monday, June 14th. Mrs. Peterson is looking for 3 parent volunteers to help out that day. If you are interested, please e-mail her at: kpeterson@risingtide.org.

Tuesday, June 15th is the last day of school, an Early Release Day, and 8th grade Graduation. Invitations will be mailed this week for the Rising Tide 8th Grade Graduation ceremony, which will begin at 9 am. The ceremony will be held outside, weather permitting; in the event of rain, it will be held in the multi-purpose room and guests will be limited to two per student due to space constraints.
