The purpose of the Rising Tide Friends (RTF) shall be to provide the close cooperation between parents, teachers and students:

• By engaging in fund-raising activities to generate funds for additional student and teacher requests.

• By providing forums and opportunities for communication among parents, teachers and students.

RTF Meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00PM at the school. Parents and students are invited and encouraged to attend. If you cannot make it to the meetings but would like to volunteer or help out kindly contact one of our officers.

MEETING DATE: Wednesday, April 7, 2010, 7:00 p.m.

IN ATTENDANCE: Megan Dupes, Anne Barker, Lisa Green, Maria Bishop and Jill Crafts

A motion was made to nominate Lisa Green as Vice President and Maria Bishop as Treasurer of the RTF-PTA for the upcoming year. A vote was taken and the nominations were unanimously approved.

TEASURERS REPORT: As of the end of March 2010, the available balance (after previously appropriated funds) was $6,129.80.

A vote was taken and funds were approved for the following:
$200.00 for 8th grade citizenship awards
$75.00 for field day
$500.00 for 8th grade Graduation refreshments
$3,600.00 towards the costs of the 5th grade field trip to Boston and the 7th and 8th grade overnight field trips

A vote was taken and approved to forego the purchase of lanyards at the cost of $200.00 for the 2010 graduation.

There was a discussion regarding approximately ten aprons left over from an event held in a previous year. It was suggested that the aprons be donated to Mr. Walker’s art class. A vote was taken and the donation was unanimously approved.

An extensive discussion was held on the future of RTF-PTA. Jill Crafts explained that as the school grows, its needs have changed and the PTA, with its primary goal of fundraising, is no longer a necessity. The faculty has requested the formation of parent advocacy/support group. A vote was taken and it was approved that the RTF-PTA will continue through the end of the school year as planned. At the conclusion of the school year, the PTA will make arrangements to disband. Future discussion will be held regarding the parent advocacy group.
