2011 SUMMER ENRICHMENT COURSES

Summer Painting Studio
Students will expand on their Visual Art skills while exploring large-scale painting in this fun and informative workshop. Each student will be working with easy to learn steps to take their ideas from tiny sketches to mural sized compositions with confidence. Working from their drawings, students will each compose an original 4' x 4' acrylic painting using a variety of methods using both modern technology as well as the techniques of historical master painters.

Session 1: July 11-15, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Session 2: July 18-22, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Cost: $175 per session
Limited to 10 Rising Tide students, currently in grades 5-8, per session

Music Composition Workshop
This workshop has become bigger and better! Students will focus on creating their own music using instruments and music technology. They will participate in jam sessions and group compositions using various instruments from all over the world. Significant time will also be devoted to technology, including keyboard synthesizers, electronic drums, drum machines, effects, and computer music software. We will analyze and listen to great artists and songs, and try to incorporate those elements into student compositions. Students may pick a subject and express it through music, discovering how music can communicate and convey meaning with or without words. The musical possibilities are endless! All aspiring composers and songwriters should consider this.
